LAAFP is a local county chapter of the California Academy of Family Physicians and a regional component of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
The organization represents over 2,500 practicing family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students interested in the specialty dedicated to improving access to high quality care while championing family medicine.
We focus on family physicians’ professional challenges and health policy concerns through advocacy and education to expand Los Angeles County residents’ access to high quality and cost-effective patient care.
Mission
To promote and maintain high standards of the family medicine specialty. To encourage and assist young physicians with preparing, qualifying and establishing themselves as family physicians. To assist in providing continuing education for family physicians and to encourage and assist practicing physicians and surgeons in participating in such training. To advance medical science and private and public health and to preserve the right of free choice of physician to the patient.
