Happy summer from your Los Angeles Academy of Family Physicians!
Summer is traditionally a time when people slow down and take some time for themselves which has resonated with me recently as I have been reflecting on this country’s culture of “busyness.” Think about this: how many times have you replied to the greeting “How are you?” with the answer “Busy!”? For most of us family physicians, this is likely a common scenario. Life balance is difficult to achieve. I have been working on saying no this year since I learned that “No.” is a complete sentence; for me, this means I take more time to reflect on whether saying yes aligns with who I am and where I want to be. I hope this summer season lends itself to reducing busyness in your lives.
