The meeting was called to order by President, Emma Hiscocks, MD. There were 26 members and guests present at this special meeting. All names are on record.
Dr. Hiscocks referred everyone to the minutes to the Members Meeting on November 11, at Parkers’ Lighthouse in Long Beach, CA. The minutes were approved, with no discussion or objections, as written in the agenda.
Dr. Hiscocks referred everyone to the 2023 Financial Recap, January 1 – December 31. The report was accepted, with no discussion or objections, as printed in the agenda.
The 2024 Budget Committee recommendations were accepted without discussion or objections, as printed in the agenda.
Dr. Phillip Brown, Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, referred everyone to the Treasurer’s Report for January – March 2024. It was accepted with no discussion or objections, as printed in the agenda.
OLD BUSINESS; There was a brief announcement recognizing the Leap Into Post-Residency Careers: Family Medicine Career Panel presented by Zoom on February 29 at 7:00 pm. Participating presenters were: Host: Emma Hiscocks, MD; Moderator: Shannon Connolly, MD; Panelists: Naman Shah, MD, PhD; Nzinga Graham, MD; C. Peony Khoo, MD and Gregory Lewis, MD. Twenty-three guests joined in.

NEW BUSINESS: Dr. Hiscocks announced the incoming Executive Director of the LAAFP, Joe Kuns, to be the additional signer on the Banc of California checking account and the VANGUARD investment funds to begin in June 2024.
Dr. Hiscocks referenced the AMAM Participant’s Handbook to open a discussion on the 39 resolutions brought before the CAFP Board of Directors. Of particular interest was Resolution A-15-24 – Empowering Delegates for a Stronger Academy. A discussion arose suggesting an evaluation be made regarding the resolution process with a recommendation of developing a taskforce to take a close look at how we get resolutions.
Resolution A-31-24 was addressed by Dr. Soomin Jung entitled “Fair Bilingual Compensation to Advance Health Equity and Language-Concordant.” This resolution was supported by the CAFP Student/Resident Council.
