The meeting was called to order by President Gregory Lewis, MD. He introduced our special guest speaker, Dr. Raul Ayala, CAFP President of 2023-2024. He also welcomed everyone and asked members to introduce themselves and their guests. There were 26 people present, including Executive Director, Roxanne Kuns and 2024 Incoming Executive Director, Joe Kuns. All names are on record.
Dr. Lewis asked for approval of the minutes to the Annual Meeting held on August 27, 2023, at Hilton Orange/Costa Mesa hotel. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as printed in the October Newsletter and in the meeting agenda. The minutes were unanimously approved.
Dr. Cynthia Chen-Joea presented an overview of the Treasurer’s Report for January 1 – October 31, 2023. There was a motion to accept the report as printed in the agenda. The motion was made and seconded and the report was unanimously accepted.
The 2024 Election results for the LAAFP Executive Board were introduced and printed in the meeting agenda.
Save the dates were announced: 1) The 2024 All Member Advocacy Meeting for April 13-14 (Lobby Day, April 15) at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento hotel. 2) The 2024 CAFP Award Nominations forms were soon to be available on the CAFP website.
Dr. Lewis announced the names of the 2024 authorized signers on Banc of CA checking account and VANGUARD investment funds: Emma Hiscocks, MD, President; and Cynthia Chen-Joea, MD, Secretary-Treasurer. Roxanne Kuns, Executive Director, remains the primary signer. Signers from 2023 to be removed are Gregory Lewis, MD, and Stacey Ludwig, MD,

Dr. Raul Ayala presented his CAFP 2023 President’s Address to our members and guests. In it, he strongly encouraged our chapter to reach out to resident and student members in new and creative ways. He also expressed gratefulness for LAAFP’s involvement in the Academy at both county and state levels.
