The meeting was called to order by President Gregory Lewis, MD. Dr. Lewis welcomed our members and guests, asking that they each introduce themselves. There were 14 people present, including Executive Director, Roxanne Kuns. All names have been placed on record.
Dr. Lewis asked for approval of the minutes to the Member Appreciation Lunch Meeting event held on March 25, 2023, at the AMAM conference in Sacramento. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as printed in April Newsletter and the meeting agenda. The minutes were unanimously approved.
Dr. Cynthia Chen-Joea presented the January – April 2023 Treasurer’s Report. It was moved and seconded to accept the report as printed in the agenda.
For Old Business it was stated that the March 2023 AMAM conference in Sacramento was a good success. A thank you was extended to all the members who attended.
The New Business report included 2 items: 1) A report from the May 15 Zoom Brainstorming Session where volunteers discussed ideas that might encourage local medical students and residents to become more engaged in the LAAFP chapter. From that session sprang the desire to create bylaws changes to add a student and a resident to our Executive Board. 2) Members were encouraged to register for the CAFP Prism of Practice conference, August 25-27, 2023.
The meeting was adjourned.
Following the meeting, a volunteer Bylaws Committee was formed to present the plan necessary to change the bylaws: 1) add wording to the bylaws in a draft that permits adding a student and a resident to the Executive Board. 2) send out new draft to receive a recommendation from the Executive Board members’ vote. 3) Send out the newly drafted bylaws to the whole LA County membership for a final vote.
