May 4, 2019 | Marmalade Café, Los Angeles
The meeting was called to order by President, Daniel Pio, MD. Ten members and guests were present. All names have been placed on record. A get-acquainted time offered each person the opportunity to introduce themselves and make a statement regarding their practice setting. Two medical students in attendance shared their future plans in family medicine: Alex Chen will be entering the University of Washington Family Medicine Residence program. Christina Huckabay will be entering the Charles Drew FM Residency program. Enthusiastic congratulations were expressed by all.
Dr. Pio asked for approval of the minutes of the Breakfast Caucus held at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento on March 10, 2019. The minutes were printed in the April Newsletter and in the Agenda. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes as printed. The approval was unanimous.
A motion was received and seconded to accept the January – April 2019 Treasurer’s Report as printed in the Agenda. The report was unanimously accepted as printed.
The new business at hand was to discuss/brainstorm a request from the CAFP planning committee that our chapter host an event at the 2020 CAFP Family Medicine Clinical Forum in Long Beach (May 15 – 17). Everyone agreed that we should sponsor or co-sponsor an event (outing to the Long Beach Art Museum or Long Beach Latin Museum, host a breakfast, contribute to the Foundation Dinner); however, further discussion is needed. As noted, hosting an event means that our chapter will need to dedicate funds during our 2020 budget planning season.
The meeting was adjourned.
